The Gorn are a humanoid like species of reptiles native to the Beta Quadrant and have no known homeworld. The Gorn are in fact a transplanted race with three almost identical races, closer than even the Romulans are to the Vulcans, which were discovered on the planets Ghdar, Geydar and Ghidahr. The Gorn have a similar appearance to the now-extinct velocaraptors from Earth and communicate through a snake like hissing sounds which can be translated into other humanoid languages by a universal translator. The Gorn tend to be stronger physically than most of the standard humanoid species and despite being reptile in origin they are quite intelligent something many mammal species foremost the Romulans refuse to accept.
While being one of the oldest space faring races, the Gorn have claimed the smallest territory however the Hegemony still manages to operate a large and powerful military and space fleet and their technology is on par with the other influential powers of the quadrant.
The Gorn Hegemony has few political problems due to the simple yet effective government where all groups are given an equal say in their government and policies.
The Gorn Hegemony shares boarders with the Romulan Star Empire and United Federation of Planets.
The Gorn Space Command is the military force employed by the Gorn. They are efficient and work with a caste system where each of the three species of the Gorn are best suited for a particular field with Commanders pulled from all three divisions upon recommendations by their commanders. Gorn vessels often operate alone, something the other governments apart from the Federation don't normally do. This is due to Gorn vessels being renown for the durability, with most vessels able to go toe to toe with two equally classed vessels from other species.
The bulk of the Gorn forces are deployed along the Romulan boarder due to the hostiles between the two races with an almost equal number protecting the core worlds of the Hegemony.
